SKAPA DANS

BE A PART OF SWEDEN'S YOUNG CHOREOGRAPHER'S COMPETITION

Skapa Dans is an annual national choreography competition for young persons 14-22 years where all genres and styles are welcome to compete. The competition consists of regional finals, at for example Skånes Dansteater, where the winning choreography goes on to the national final in Stockholm. The competitions take place live on stage with an audience. The competition's jury consists of choreographers and dance professionals from all over Sweden.

The purpose of the competition is to encourage the creation of dance and present the creativity and ability within the younger non-professional community involved in dance of various genres and levels. Since the focus is on choreography and not technique all genres and styles are welcome to compete. Skapa Dans is an opportunity for young dance talents to share and connect with the community devoted to dance.

Since the competition focuses on choreography and not dance technique, all dancers are welcome whatever previous experience one might have. As a contestant you get to stage your work together with technicians at te theatre and meet lots of other young passionate dancers

FOR CONTESTANTS

EVERYONE can compete in Skapa Dans. Remeber that this is a choreography competition, it is the choreographic qualities that are key.

The jury will judge how you use the music you have chosen, how you use the room and the choreographic movement. Presentation is of course important but not crucial. All styles are welcome to compete, regardsless of dance background.

Registration deadline: September 26.

Age: all contestants must be between 14-22 years.

Competing groups can be no more than 6 dancers.

All choreographies must be minimum 3 mins and max 4,5 mins long.

Please note: the competition only admits 10 choreographies. Registration is first come, first served.

Regional final: Saturday October 15, 6 pm at Skånes Dansteater.

In this regional final ten young choreographers share their own creations and compete to represent Skåne in the national final of Skapa Dans.

Skapa Dans regional final is a co-production by Skånes Dansteater and Riksteatern Skåne.
