About
Skånes Dansteater heads east with a triple-bill as the beginning of a collaborative exchange project with Korea National Contemporary Dance Company.
In celebration of the 60th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Korea and Sweden in 2019, the Korea National Contemporary Dance Company and Skånes Dansteater present a choreography exchange project with its premiere performance in Seoul in 2018.
For the first premiere performance of the project, Skånes Dansteater presents a triple-bill of two choreographies, HALF.HALF by Jing Yi Wang and Yiorgos Pelagias and Dare to Wreck by Madeleine Månsson and Peder Nilsson, and The Entertainers, a new choreography by Roser Lopez Espinosa.
THE ENTERTAINERS
The 1930's. The celebrated acrobatic dancers Barney, Marlene and Yvonne are about to perform their acclaimed routine, when some unexpected events arise forcing the performers to solve the situation in a somewhat original way.
Glamour and acrobatic tricks. Ingenuity and humour. Artistry, elegance, physical entanglements and wonderous monsters. The audience’s praise and applause are all the entertainers' wish for. And now that they are in the limelight, they will give you the best of shows.
The Entertainers is a new dance work by Spanish choreographer Roser Lopez Espinosa, created for Skånes Dansteater and which will have its world premiere in Seoul, June 2018.
HALF.HALF
The ideas in HALF.HALF come simply from the sensations of listening, isolating, locking and unlocking movement and the energy changing to establish a conversation between us and the relation in itself …
HALF.HALF was created by Yiorgos Pelagias and Jing Yi Wang in 2016 within an artistic development project for the dancers at Skånes Dansteater. The piece was a part of the performance Hemlagat (Home Made) in 2017.
Dare to Wreck
Dare to Wreck is a dynamic and emotional exploration of a relationship. It deals with aspects of allowing yourself to meet someone while at the same time also having the courage to leave.
The duet was originally conceived as part of the longer performance C me (choreographed by Caroline Bowditch and Melody Putu) for dancers with and without disabilities. Peder Nilsson and Madeleine Månsson have expanded this duet to an independent work which has toured nationally and internationally, in places such as Belarus 2016, Dancable Festival in The Hague 2017 and Holland Dance Festival 2018.
Performances at Jayu Yheatre Seoul Arts Center, Korea

Please note: the performance will only be performed on tour.
