9. Creating alone and together

With Ludvig Daae

Creating something can be a lonely task, being a freelance choreographer for example. Creating at the dance theater means instead more hands working together. For "Attempting Alchemy", choreographer Ludvig Daae has been able to fully immerse himself in the role of choreographer. At the dance theater that means interviews, the occasional podcast and open rehearsals, all intended to create meetings between  dance and audience.

8. From ballet to contemporary – the birth of a dance theater

With Katarina Wallmo

Skånes Dansteater was born 1995 from the ballet company known as Malmöbaletten. The Ballet Director at that time, Jonas Kåge, had worked hard for many years to establish an independent dance company. After a few turbulent turns of events the modern dance company Skånes Dansteater was born. Patrick King was appointed the Artistic Director and set the ambition for the successful start.

We go back to those transformative years together with Katarina Wallmo. She was a company dancer with the Malmöbaletten and then Skånes Dansteater and has stayed true to the company since its beginning. She is a living archive of all performances and colleagues, remembering all vividly and detailed. Her dedication to the theater is still strong, nowadays as Project Manager.
