Dance for Parkinson's Weekend
A weekend of dancing, inspiration and knowledge sharing for persons with Parkinson's disease, in collaboration with Folkuniversitetet. The tempo and movements are designed for the workshop participants in line with a method created by Mark Morris Dance Group in New York, USA. No previous dance experience is required.
Dance for Parkinson's is based on the idea of giving everyone the opportunity to experience an artistic expression such as dance. To explore and participate in dance classes under the guidance of professional dancers.
This weekend in June consists of two fun days filled with music, workshops, dance classes, voice care and lectures.
Program
Please note: times are approximate and can be altered in accordance with the group's needs and wellbeing.
Saturday June 14
11:00-12:15 We begin the day with a soft dance class.
12:30-13:30 Lunch together, vegetarian.
13:30-14:10 Lecture on the benefits of dance and Dance Wellbeing.
14:20-15:00 Workshop focusing on voice and movement.
15:00-16:00 Afternoon coffee together.
Sunday June 15
11:00-12:15 Dance class focusing on balance, strength and mobility.
12:30-13:30 Lunch together, vegetarian.
13:30-15:00 Workshop focusing on embodied presence. WE explore physicality and movement through easy exercises and guided improvisation/free dancing. Relax into the body and into the movement
15:00-16:00 Afternoon coffee and closure.
Practical Information
During lunch and breaks there is time for discussions and connections.
No previous dance experience is required to take part.
All dance classes and workshops can be done seated.
Price
500 kr/day or 800 kr for both days.
Companions pay 200 kr/day.
Lunch and coffee breaks are included in the price.
