DansFunk Festival: Lunch with an Artist: Aristide Rontini

Lunch with Italian choreographer and dancer Aristide Rontini, in a talk with festival curator Filip Pawlak. This artist talk is a part of DansFunk Festival 2026.

Aristide Rontini is no stranger to Skånes Dansteater audiences.

In Spring 2026, Skånes Dansteaters Kompani premiered their new creation May Fall that Sydsvenskan's critics called "wild and beautiful". During autumn 2026, May Fall will also go on tour across Sweden, returning to Skånes Dansteater's stage in December, as part of a double-bill with Aristide's solo creation Lampyris Noctiluca.

During this Lunch with the Artist, you will get to hear from Aristide on their artistic practice that often challenges identity, the relationship between people and society, nature and man.

The artist talk will be held in English and led by Filip Pawlak, with Swedish Sign Language interpretation.

A kind of "Lunch Dance"

Lunch with the Artist takes place in our Foajé Varvsscenen.

Tickets include a savoury vegetarian lunch, coffee and cake, served from 11:30, which can be enjoyed before, during or after the talk.

This event is general admission. Your ticket won't have a specific row or seat number. All seating is located on the ground floor, with wheelchair access.

About Artistide Rontini

Aristide Rontini is an Italian dancer and choreographer supported by Europe Beyond Access. He is a founding member of the Italian disabled artists-activists group Al Di Qua who are leading the way in advocating for the autonomy and rights of disabled artists in Italy.

He graduated as a dancer from Codarts Rotterdam in 2010 where he performed in dance pieces by Michael Schumacher, Georgh Reischl and Conny Janssen. As freelancer he has worked with Simona Bertozzi (IT), the Candoco Dance Company (UK), Alessandro Carboni (IT), Alessandro Schiattarella/BewegGrund (CH), Teatro Della Tosse (IT), Michela Lucenti/Balletto Civile (IT), Angelica Liddell (SP), Carl Olof Berg/Spinn (SV), Vahan Badalyan (Armenia) and Diego Tortelli/Aterballetto (IT).

He created the dance pieces “LOY” and “Skin in Between” from the dance company Introdans (NL).

In the past few years he has developed his own artistic projects, such as It moves me, Giovane Notturno, Talitha Kumi, Alexis, Alexis 2.0, Lampyris Noctiluca, Frammenti di Infinito and Corporale.

“Lampyris Noctiluca” was selected for the international platform Aerowaves 2025.
