The Upheaval

With The Upheaval, Skånes Dansteater and choreographer/environmental artist Philippe Blanchard explore ecologically sustainable approaches within the performing arts. Developed specifically for its location, the work moves between dance, installation, and immersive experience.

A collaboration with Malmö Sommarscen and Malmö Konstmuseum.

Relations, complexity, and interdependence

The Upheaval unfolds both outdoors in Kungsparken and inside Malmö’s former casino, now temporarily activated as a space for imagining what a future art museum could become.

Through practices of stillness and movement, the project cultivates an attentiveness to the environmental web of relations in which we are already implicated. The work explores opacity not as obscurity, but as a way of remaining open to complexity, interdependence, and the unknowable dimensions of relation.

Movements, encounters, durations, and spatial relations continuously emerge and dissolve across the site, allowing the work to unfold as a shifting field of perception and presence.

The Upheaval is a collaboration between Skånes Dansteater, Malmö Konstmuseum and Malmö Sommarscen.
