Work in progress: Jason Martin

After graduating from l'École de Danse Contemporaine de Montréal, Jason Martin performed with notable companies like Compagnie Marie Chouinard, Le Carré des Lombes and Daniel Léveillé Danse. 

In 2016, he founded ENTITEY/jason martin, creating works focus on human resilience and interdependence. Jason has received several awards, including Best Dancer at SoloDuo NRW + Friends, the Jury Prize at Certamen Coreográfico 10 Sentidos, the La Gomera Choreography Center Prize at Masdanza, and won 3rd best choreographic work at ICC Linkage.

"At the beginning of a new creation, I launch myself without thinking into a new unknown, guided by the sensory and dynamic dialogue between emotions and bodily responses. I listen, observe, analyze. I am nourished by the desire to bring the body to light, where different virtuosities propose instinctively or inherently. I shape my movement over a long time, searching for the integrity of the gesture, a total, sensitive physical commitment, from the impulse to the evolution of the form. The body then becomes the communicator of the intangible, the bearer of countless memories of personal and universal experiences, uniting us by a causal link that I try to expose. The result is works where, like a visceral spasm, the relationships between the performers shift from self-sufficiency and interdependence, vulnerability and determination, provocation and resignation." // Jason Martin

He has created commissioned works for companies including the Ballet of the Wroclaw Opera, Taller Coreográfico de la UNAM, Ballet Nacional Dominicano, Winnipeg's Contemporary Dancers and the Ballet Metropolitano de Medellín.
