Sunday June 29 Skånes Dansteater offers a full day of dance events, performances, dancealongs Dansfest is an event for all ages, body and soul.
Dansfest begins at 15:15 with UP-AND-DOWN-AND-UP-, Skånes Dansteater's playful dance performance for young children ages 4-8 years.
Continuing on at 16:30 the beat goes on in Maria Naidu's interactive performance Sammankomst (Agathering),
followed by Subkulturen at 17:30 – dance company Bobbi Lo Produktions' performance about community and connection.
At 18:30 we turn the beat up with an open DanceAlong dance floor to the sweet tunes of DJ Kick-it. Find your favourite groove in the sun together with Skånes Dansteater's dancers.
The end? To top it off Tangokompaniet round off the evening at Scaniaplatsen as planned with an open TangoAlong dance floor as the sun sets 19:00-21:30.

15:15-16:00 UP-AND-DOWN-AND-UP-
‘UP-AND-DOWN-AND-UP-’ is an interactive dance performance about the joy of movement in one's body, the joy of moving alone and together with others. 'UP-AND-DOWN-AND-UP-' takes us on a participatory adventure, a search for happiness, both individually and collectively. Through its original work-formance format that begins with a movement workshop and continues into a performance, the children become protagonists of movement action.

16:30-17:30 Sammankomst
Agathering delves into the power of community through the timeless line dance The Electric Slide. Explore a pulsating world of movement that invites – a symphony of expression, a sea of bodies, light, and shadows. The work is a tribute to the spontaneous and individual expression in dance. You are part of the whole, regardless of how you choose to participate. Participate in your own way, according to your own circumstances.
Boundaries between people blur in a wordless companionship. Flowing energy, joy, and community create a deep sense of well-being. Be inspired by the power of participation and reflect on the importance of being part of something greater than yourself. Agathering premiered in 2024 at Malmö Sommarscen.
Behind the performance Agathering stands the Malmö-based dance artist Maria Naidu. For nearly 40 years, she has nurtured a passion for dance art striving to make it accessible to a broad audience. Since her debut as a choreographer in 1989, Maria Naidu has produced a total of 38 of her own artistic works, which have been performed in 14 countries on five continents.
17:30-18:15 Subkulturen
Subkulturen (The Subculture) is a dance experience exploring belonging inspired by subcultures – communities where young people create their own expressions through music, style, movement, and ideas. Often as a reaction to societal norms it can be a way of saying: "We are doing it our own way." At the same time, subcultures manifest something deeply human – the need to belong, to be seen, and to feel at home somewhere.
Today, much of young people's identity is shaped online. Friends are listed, likes are counted. But what happens when we meet in person? When we move together, here and now? Subkulturen wants to make room for that – something you can't scroll past, but that you feel in every step. The line between stage and reality blurs. Subkulturen is not just something you watch – it is something you feel in your body. Through dance, we build a new space for community – one where you don't need to scroll to be seen, and where every step is part of something greater.
Bobbi Lo Produktion create exciting performances for young people, where dance is the foundation and sound, costumes, and set design form a world to step into. They want to give you an experience where you can meet both yourself and the dancers up close.
18:30-20:00 DJ Kick-it: DanceAlong
Dansfest Västra hamnen continues the evening towards the sunset with one of two open dance floors. Join Skånes Dansteater's dancers and move to the beat of DJ Kick-It mixing up a DanceAlong to the tunes of soul, R&B, pop, rock and 60's synth shuffling on into the music of today. There's only one goal, to get your feet moving and your heart rate going. No previous dance experience required - just come and dance, find your own beat and enjoy the magic of dancing together.
19:00-21:30 Tangokompaniet: TangoAlong
The evening ends in the smooth sways of tango when Tangokompaniet open the dance floor at Scaniaplatsen as planned with a TangoAlong welcoming everyone to enjoy the rest of the evening. Tangokompaniet is one of Scandinavia’s leading tango schools. With experienced and encouraging instructors, you're invited to explore tango, an intense and expressive partner dance that hones sensitivity, presence, and body awareness. As an art form, tango often conveys drama, humour, and excitement.
