Lunch with an Artist: Maria Naidu

The Festival Begins

Kicking of our mini-festival week is Malmö dance artist Maria Naidu, who has been working with dance in various ways since 1986. Join her over lunch as she reveals how one dance, of 18 steps that can be repeated endlessly, changed everything for her and her artistic practice.

Her new work On and On and On and On and On and On and On premieres on 13 October at Dansstationen c/o Skånes Dansteater.

You will also be invited to try out these 18 steps together with Maria in a joyous end to the lunch.

A kind of 'Lunch Dance'

Lunch with an Artist takes place in the foyer of Skånes Dansteater for an audience of maximum 40 persons. 

The event is general admission. Your ticket won't have a specific row or seat number.  

Your ticket includes vegetarian soup, bread, coffee and cake. 

Lunch is served from 11:30, and can be enjoyed before, during or after the event which starts around 12pm. 

About the festival 

The festival DANSA FÖR EVIGT (Dance forever) is a celebration of lives lived through the body; of the artistry, presence, and perspectives that can only come from a lifetime experienced through movement and dance.

DANSA FÖR EVIGT places older dancers and their voices centre stage—valuing their experience and imagination as equal to the vitality of a younger dancing body.

With a brand-new production by Skånes Dansteater’s 60+ dance community, performances by world-renowned guest artists, conversations with current and former Skånes Dansteater dancers who are defying societal norms, and a DJ-led afterwork club, this festival is a place for different generations to meet, move and be moved. 

Here, older bodies are not hidden – they are luminous. Older perspectives are not “outdated” – they are vital. This is dance as a living archive, a dialogue across time, and a reminder that experience is not the opposite of innovation but its foundation.
