May Fall & Lampyris Noctiluca
An evening of two beautiful performances by Italian choreographer and dancer Aristide Rontini.
May Fall
May Fall plays with the visible and the hidden in the quest for love. The stage is sprinkled by a series of floating curtains, as bodies and objects appear and vanish in a mysterious, enigmatic atmosphere that stirs desire – but also friction. Why do we try to resist, when perhaps it is all about letting our guard down, daring to fall and putting our hearts on the line?
Lampyris Noctiluca
After the interval, Aristide himself performs the solo piece Lampyris Noctiluca to the music of Vittorio Giampietro. The work is inspired by poet Pier Paolo Pasolini’s essay in which he laments the rise of consumerism and that fireflies (lampyris noctiluca) have been driven from the Italian countryside. Drawing on Pasolini’s reflections, Aristide has created an intimate work that challenges the stereotypes related to his own disabled body.
