Talk: It takes a village

Skånes Dansteater is delighted to be able to support local dance festival "Turning Floors into Freedom". Over three days in June, Skånes Dansteater is one of the venues for several workshops and events.

A reflective panel exploring what “community” really means beyond branding and buzzwords.

Speakers will share why community matters to them, how they continue through adversity, and how they navigate spaces where “community” is co‑opted by capitalism and consumerism.

We’ll consider past, present and future practices, why true community relies on shared investment rather than one person carrying the load. We hope to find answers around what support is missing, and how to sustain and resource ourselves.

Phil Sanger will chair the panel, which consists of Theresa ‘Tr3sa’ Gustafsson, Tuva Hildebrand and Sebastian Ruiz.

Tickets: free of charge

About Turning Floors into Freedom

A festival that aims to reduce the distance between professional dancers, enthusiasts, and diverse groups in society - connecting bodies, bridging communities.Through workshops, performances, talks, and DJ open dance sessions, different generations, cultures, and styles come together on the dance floor.

Here, local dancers share their knowledge and invite conversations about the city’s dance community. Our bodies carry collective knowledge, and dance becomes a space for health and well-being through playfulness, mobility, and connection.

The program ranges from contemporary dance and street styles to traditional folk dance, club culture, and somatic practices.

Organized by Turning Floors Team, supported by Danscentrum Syd, Region Skåne, and Skånes Dansteater.
