Dance Workshop for d/Deaf and Hard of Hearing People
Join us this spring for three inclusive dance workshops for local d/Deaf and Hard of Hearing people who want to try out dance. Led by our dancers, supported by Swedish Sign Language interpretation, you’ll get to move, create and connect in an environment tailored to your communication needs.
For local d/Deaf and Hard of Hearing people
Join us for three inclusive dance workshops this autumn that have been specially created for local d/Deaf and Hard of Hearing people. Each workshop is designed so that communication barriers in the dance studio are reduced so you can just dance and have a good time. The workshop will be interpreted into Swedish Sign-Language by Linus Ingvarsson.
Each workshop begins with a gentle warm-up to prepare the body, followed by improvisation and choreography. You’ll have the chance to discover new ways of moving, share your favorite moves, and be inspired by others in a space that values Deaf Awareness.
Expect an uplifting and playful hour of dance – followed by fika! After each workshop we’ll gather over coffee and snacks, giving everyone a chance to connect, chat, and enjoy some social time together.
The workshops are supported by Europe Beyond Access, co-funded by the European Union.
Dodzi Dougban 28 March
Dodzi Dougban is a Deaf dancer and performer who grew up in Recklinghausen, Germany. He is Deaf from birth. As a professional dancer, choreographer, model, and actor, he has performed in numerous stage productions and performance projects. Influenced by these experiences, he found his artistic focus in hip-hop dance, and became five-time German champion and three-time European champion together with hearing dance
crews.
Dodzis work as a performer always bridges the Deaf and hearing worlds. As an artist, he poetically integrates elements of sign language into dance, creating a unique physical language on stage.
