Relaxed performance: Afterlife

A world premiere

Afterlife takes place in a vast, empty swimming pool suspended outside of time; the air is dense, and steam dissolves any physical certainty. The liminal space feels serene yet unstable and enigmatic, as if reality is only a lingering impression. Various individuals from different timelines enter this dimension, each carrying traces of past roles, duties, emotions; their presences overlapping and interrupting one another, making the pool vibrant with constantly changing scenarios. 

As the group moves through this hollow dimension, identities blur and memories break into scattered sensations and echoes. New connections and forms begin to emerge, as if the pool strips away what once covered them, revealing something more essential beneath, or distorting every atom and story built across their life-chapters.

About Relaxed performance

Relaxed performance is for anyone who benefits from a more relaxed theatre environment. Perhaps someone has a disability or for other reasons needs more flexibility. The theater visit should feel as undemanding and relaxed as possible.

• You are free to move around during the performance as you need, sit or stand, dance or just watch.
• The sound level in the performance is adjusted and the auditorium is not so dark.
• The performance is general admission with various seating options, bean bags or movable chairs. You can choose whatever suits you best.
• The doors to the auditorium are open so you can go out and take a break whenever you want.
• The café is open during the performance and the foyer can serve as a quiet place.
• The venue is fully accessible and all seating is at ground level. Special seating for wheelchair users does not need to be booked in advance.

Accessibility

By the entrance to Skånes Dansteater (adress Östra Varvsgatan 13a) there are accessible parking spaces. 

The theatre foyer opens 60 minutes before the performance begins.

The entrance to the theatre has no stairs and doors are opened with electric assistance. 

Skånes Dansteater's venue, entrance, foyer, restrooms, auditorium, and studios are on ground level. .

Companion tickets are complimentary and are booked in the same way as paid tickets.

Audio Description

For anyone with visual impairment, this performance is also offered with audio description in Swedish. Sign-up by sending an email to dialog@skanesdansteater.se or call 0703-44 58 11.

You will hear the audio description via equipment that you can borrow in the foyer at Skånes Dansteater before the performance. The equipment consists of a receiver unit and headphones. It is perfectly possible to use your own headphones instead if you prefer.

We meet 30 minutes before the performance starts. Then you will receive a performance introduction that describes, among other things, the content of the performance and what you meet on stage.

When the performance begins, the audio description starts and you hear the audio description in your headphones. You can adjust the sound volume with the control wheel, but you don't need to do anything else.

At the end of the performance, return the receiver and headphones to our staff in the foyer.

Enhanced Audio

You are welcome to borrow equipment for enhanced audio. Our front of house staff is happy to be of assistance.
