LGBTQIA+ workshop: Drag with PotatoPotato Scenkonst

This workshop is for anybody who wants to explore new expressions of performance and is interested in or curious about gender and norm criticism. As a participant, you will playfully explore drag king/queen expression thru exercises in physical embodiment, props, and improvisation, allowing your own king/queen to emerge. The workshop provides you with a bodily experience of the significance of gender-based structures, and access to various expressions to use both privately and on stage. Practical exercises are interspersed with reflection and discussion. 

Indigo Flamingo is a collaboration between Skånes Dansteater and Malmö Pride and is a celebration of Malmö’s LGBTQIA+ communities, people and history. 

About PotatoPotato Scenkonst

PotatoPotato Scenkonst is an experimental performing arts collective based in Malmö. Within the projects Squeer, Drag’n Dj, and King2King, PotatoPotato has created countless performances and workshops based on drag techniques over the past fifteen years. PotatoPotato defines "drag" as a physical way to explore, challenge, and play with gender expressions, on and off stage.

Paulina Göth and Helena Engberg Tunström are artistic directors of PotatoPotato Scenkonst and specialize in drag and devising methods. They work artistically as actors, drag artists, educators, and DJs.

Practical Information

Coffees and teas served from 12:00. The workshop lasts 13:00–16:00.

No previous dance experience required for this workshop.

The workshop is held in Swedish.

Our dance workshops welcome all abilities. 

Wear loose fitting clothes that you feel comfortable moving around in.
